Drivers Injured In Howard County Head On Collision

Howard County Head On Collision Sends Two to Shock Trauma Center

On Thursday, August 9, 2012, at about 3 p.m., two cars traveling on Route 108 in Howard County near the Montgomery County line were involved in a head on collision. A woman driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound on Maryland Route 108 crossed the center line and collided with a 1999 GMC Yukon traveling westbound, resulting in a head on car collision, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Lawrence Harris, 57, of Upper Marlboro, the driver of the Yukon, was taken by Maryland State Police medevac helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma. The collision is still under investigation. The cause appeared to be the Chevrolet driver’s failure to keep her car to the right of the center line, police said.

Injuries and Deaths Caused by Head On Collision

A head on collision can result in serious injuries, and sometimes deaths, because the speed of both vehicles traveling in opposite directions, combined with the weight of the vehicles, creates tremendous forces. A car crash head on therefore is capable of causing catastrophic harm. Often, fault lies with one driver who crossed the center line.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a head on collision, or a head on car collision, a car accident attorney experienced with head on collision cases can help.
