Legal Claims for Injuries Caused in Bus Accidents

A driver of any vehicle is legally responsible if the driver’s recklessness, carelessness, or negligence is the cause of another person’s injuries, including passengers. This is true of a bus driver when injuries are caused by a bus accident that is the fault of the bus driver. In fact, when a driver is transporting passengers for hire, the law imposes an even higher duty to avoid harm to passengers compared to drivers who are not doing it for hire.

Mr. Smith successfully handled one shuttle bus accident at BWI Airport in which a police department employee and friend were returning from a vacation trip. They took a shuttle bus from BWI Airport to an airport parking lot company. The shuttle bus driver was driving aggressively and, at one point, slammed on his brakes. This caused the passenger to be thrown forward into the armrest of another seat in the shuttle bus. The armrest padding was missing, causing the woman’s leg to slam against a sharp metal bracket, resulting in a deep laceration and eventual scar. The injured bus passenger received a fair settlement for her injuries, medical expenses, and disfigurement.
