On February 21, 2012, a car collided with a school bus on Route 40 at Pebble Beach Drive in Ellicott City, reported The Baltimore Sun. The driver of the car and one of its passengers were taken by Maryland State Police Medivac helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life threatening injuries and were listed in critical condition. Another passenger was also taken there by ambulance. Fortunately, there weren’t any passengers on the bus at the time of the bus accident. A Howard County police spokesperson stated that the bus had the green light and the right of way.

On April 9, 2012, the car’s driver and passengers reunited with firefighters and paramedics who had responded to the bus accident and rendered on-scene life saving care, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services. They also met with trauma nurses from the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center where two of the injured received care for their serious injuries.
