Man Injured In Train Accident With Car

CSX Train Involved in Baltimore County Train Accident with Car

On Wednesday, August 8, 2012, an intermodal CSX train traveling north from Florida collided with a Volvo at the railway’s intersection with Schaefer’s Lane near Pulaski Highway, reported The Baltimore Sun. The driver of the car in the train accident was injured and transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Apparently, the intersection did not have barrier arms that descend when a train is passing through, only signs warning of trains. This might have posed a hazard to the car’s driver, making a train accident more likely.

Howard County Train Derails on Same Day as Train Accident With Car

On the same day as the Baltimore County train accident, another CSX freight train briefly derailed in Woodstock, Howard County. The train was traveling east from Cumberland to Baltimore through the railway’s intersection with the 1400 block of Woodstock Road when one of its cars momentarily came off the tracks, only to return shortly thereafter.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the Howard County train accident. Two train accidents in the same day illustrates the fact that train accidents are more common than many people believe. Catastrophic injuries, and even death, can occur when a car is involved in a train wreck.
