Car Crash Sends Passenger to Shock Trauma Center
On February 19, 2013, Anne Arundel County police responded to a car crash involving multiple vehicles on Ritchie Highway and Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. Officers determined that two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of Ritchie Highway. According to the police department, a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound on Ritchie Highway approaching the traffic signal at Furnace Branch Road. Southbound traffic was stopped at the intersection for a steady red signal.
The Dodge Caravan had a green arrow and was making the left turn onto Furnace Branch Road. According to witnesses, the Dodge Ram pulled into a right turn only lane, entered the intersection against the light traveling straight and collided with the Caravan, causing the car crash. The Dodge Ram passenger was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in critical condition.
